Chronic patients in Albania face two different realities.
Patients throughout the country need to contact their family doctor and then stand in long queues, waiting for the specialist doctors to cure them.
In Tirana, thanks to a pilot project, there is an electronic system that cuts queues in front of specialist doctors.
Vahcide Cala, from Elbasan, a patient who suffers from various diseases, says it is impossible for her to follow every procedure, for which she has to walk from one floor of the building to another, bureaucracies that have been resolved in Tirana.
The system is expected to be applied throughout the entire country within 2018, while so far it is functional only in Tirana.
