While the opposition was blocking the main roads to Tirana, protesting the Durres-Kukes highway toll fee, MPs of the majority voted the Diaspora law.

But the author of this law, Pandeli Majko, left the Parliament in an angry mood, after the final voting of the draft.

Majko’s made amendments to this law, specifically article 18, but they were opposed by Mimi Kodheli and Taulant Balla.

The Albanian Prime Minister himself, Edi Rama, abstained.

After the amendment was rejected by votes, Majko stood up and left the room.

The law for the Diaspora, without Majko’s amendment, was voted with 74 votes in favor and one against, that of Tom Doshi.
