Diabetes frightening spread

Endocrinologists are giving the alarm for the increased number of diabetes patients, mainly of diabetes type two.

More than 55.000 people have been diagnosed, but the most concerning fact is that part of the citizens don’t know that they have diabetes, leaving the illness this way to advance.

“Sugar diabetes is an illness that is being spread everywhere through the world. Even in Albania, in the last seven years, the number of diagnosed patients has doubled. We have an increase of the people affected by diabetes and we must offer them the highest level of service. The number of people who treat diabetes goes more than 55.000”, declared Florion Toti.

According to the doctor, besides those who have it in the family, the most endangered are people who have blood fats, the obese and those who lead a sedentary life.

“This is called a silent illness because it has no pain, but it gives some clinical signs, such as frequent urination, especially during the night, thirst, weight loss besides the person might have a good appetite. It also gives frequent skin and urine infection. The sedentary life is the biggest risk for the diabetes and obesity”, Toti declared.

For the first time, the Institution of Information and Health Education has started the treatment of nurses so that they can know the problematic of diabetes and the new ways of its treatment.
