Special Prosecution against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), has requested the detention measure for two former police officers who after arresting a convict sentenced to ten years and 6 months in prison, they freed him after receiving a bribe of 10 thousand euros.
It is reported that on August 10, 2021, two police officers in Durrës, V.B., and G.LL., after being informed of the whereabouts of the wanted person, arrested him, taking him in the vehicle in which they were moving.
But after negotiating with the wanted person, the police officers decided to release him, in exchange for receiving from him a sum of 10 thousand euros.
Based on the request of SPAK, the court imposed the security measure “Prison arrest”, against police officers V.B. and G.LL., as persons suspected of committing the criminal offense of “Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions”.
Personal security measures for the two employees of the state police were executed today on 31.01.2022 by the Service of Internal Affairs and Complaints.
