The Middle School of the Thanasaj village in the Dushk commune was in
very bad conditions when this season started, but it is even worse now
after six months, with rain entering the classroom roof.
The school looks like a tunnel, full of humidity and destroyed equipment. However, students keep coming every day.
“Rain comes inside and there’s nowhere we can sit and study. The seats are wet”, one students says.
Teachers are looking for help and say it is impossible to continue through this way. In September, the Directory of Hygiene ordered the closing of this school, but the Education Directory kept it open.
“Before we start our lessons, we remove water from the classroom. This is a scandalous condition. Everything has become worse”, says teacher Alnida Ruli.
The school director says that only the dedication of teachers makes the lessons continue.
“We have made several requests, but there has been no intervention so far”, declared the school Director, Dashurim Sula.
No investment has been made in this school for the past 20 years. Teachers buy every instrument they need on their own.
