Although Albania has a modern legal base for managing borders, this will
doesn’t mean that our country is ready to treat huge waves of refugees,
according to the Deputy Minister of Interior, ilir Marko, during the
sixth meeting for PAMECA 4.
“PAMECA 4 has offered assistance for reinforcing the capacities and infrastructure for border control, helping with sensitive matters like asylum and immigration based on the Shengen standards. Thanks to this assistance, Albania has passed a modern legal structure and a series of strategic documents and manuals for border management issues. This doesn’t mean that our country is ready to host large waves of refugees. Albania can give its contribution only based on our infrastructure capacities, after a complete coordination with the western partners and the EU lawmaking institutions”, Marko said.
The cooperation with PAMECA is long-termed, and the Deputy Minister of Interior valued the huge contribution for improving the state police, together with many other achievements.
