Democratic MPs: President to respect Constitution

The Democratic Party MPs of the Parliamentary Commission of Laws asked
the President to make the propositions that require the Parliament’s
approval in full accordance with the Albanian Constitution.

“For the first time in the history of the Albanian Parliament, since 1991, the Parliament Decree took only one vote. This was the voting for the Chairman of the Supreme State Audit, decreed by the Albanian President. This was the proposition of the Albanian President, in full violation of the Constitution and the jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court”, declared the Democratic MPs.

According to them, the Albanian President should act in full accordance with the Constitution and respect the functioning of the Constitutional institutions of the country.

The Presidency reacted to this declaration of the Democratic MPs:

“The Albanian President, during his entire activity, has executed his competences in full accordance with the constitutional dispositions and the Constitutional Court has never found the President violating these dispositions. The Constitution and the Jurisprudence of the Constitutional Court are very clear in assigning the Competences of the Albanian President and the Albanian Parliament for exerting their obligations”, the reaction said.
