Demands for increasing energy price

Electrical power-related companies announced their demands for a further
increase of the energy that the Albanian citizens and businesses should
pay during the next year. The first request came from KESH, which demands to
increase the price 3.4 times.

“The average fee of the public wholesale supplier, which is necessary for covering the energy purchase costs and the consumer demand is at around 5.05 ALL for KW hours. The main burden of this cost comes from the energy purchase cost, which has a fee of 4.03 ALL”, declared Artur Kurti, Economic Director of KESH.

Another price increase was requested by the Broadcasting System Operator, although in a lower rate.

“Based on the operative expenses, the total revenues demanded by the OST is 4.615.000 ALL, which when divided with the energy indicates that the OST is demanding a new fee, 0.73 ALL for KW hour”, declared Zybie Xheka, economic director of the OST.

The last company of the energy chain that of the distribution, CEZ, proposed two versions.

“The first version is an increase of the fee for CEZ Distribution, with 4.6% more than the current, based on the calculations of the study that we have made. But we are also proposing another version, an increase of 0%. I repeat, 0%, no increase at all, if the debt between CEZ and the Albanian state and KESH will find a final solution, as expected by all parties, declared Joseph Hejsek, General Director of CEZ Distribution.

According to these companies, the average price of the energy that will be paid by the citizens goes to over 12 KW Hour, from 9.5 that it currently is, or 25% higher. The final decision will be given by the  Energy Regulation Entity and will be declared in the next month.

Rama: another government abuse

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, reacted through Tweeter against the demands of the three companies for increasing the electrical power price.

According to the opposition leader, this is another indicator of the government’s abuse with the Albanians.

Rama declared that since the families have had their fiscal burden increased to 300%, it is time to make those who earn less pay less.

Rama says that the current electrical power indicators are the worst since 1997, due to the abuses, thefts and bad managements, which has added more money to the personal power of PM Berisha.
