Delayed energy payments

Dozens of citizens in the Albanian capital complain that CEZ has
interrupted their power supplies not for failing to pay bills, but for
accumulated interest on delay, since 2007.

“With what right do they come and cut the energy without a warning. They have cut our power and do not give explanations. I don’t know where these bills came from. They say that I have interest on delay since 2007, around 12.000 ALL”, a citizen declared.

Another one says that she had an interest on delay payment of 20.000 ALL, while she says that she has always paid the electricity regularly.

“All clients who have due payments are notified before we cut the electricity. The interest on daly payment is calculated for all unpaid bills since 1 January 2007”, declared the CEZ Encashment Director, Elvis Gjergji.

CEZ support offices are full of citizens who complain for overpriced bills.

“This winter was cold and consumption was higher than usually. There were sporadic cases when the reading has been incorrect, sometimes due to the inspectors, sometimes due to the system. For all these cases, our clients can make an official complaint at our office and they receive an answer in real time”, declared the CEZ Measurement Director, Dhimiter Kote.

CEZ Directors say that they are taking measures with their inspectors who have made mistakes, while the clients will be compensated later for the energy quantity that they have been obliged to pay due to a system error or wrong readings by inspectors.
