
The Ministry of Defense held a new press release about the killing of
one Albanian commando in Afghanistan, and the severe injury of another.
Brigadier General Viktor Berdo gave some details about the health situation of Aleksander Peci and Feti Vogli, who received the title “Martyr of the Nation”.
The Minister of Defense declared that they have organized everything for the return of the body that will be buried at the Martyr’s Cemetery.
“At 16:30, 20 February 2012, during an inspection in the Robot village, the first group pf the “Eagle 4” contingent was attacked by an effective of the Afghani Police. Three military men were hit, two Albanians and one foreign. The other soldiers have arrested 11 attackers. After the situation calmed down, NATO has taken measures for sending the military men to hospital, but Commander Feti Vogli did not survive. His death was communicated at 17:10, while at 22:34, local time zone, or 19:34 with our time zone, the Albanian officers reported that Aleksander Peci successfully survived to the operation. At 23:00, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces notified the public with another communication, which said that Peci had improved. A Defense Ministry team was established for the funeral procedures of Captain Vogli, who received the title “Martyr of the Nation”, which will be officially announced during the funeral ceremony at the Martyrs’ Cemetery”, General Berdo declared.
President: Eagle Medal for Peci
The Albanian President, Bamir Topi, visited the family of Corporal Feti Vogli, in Baldushk, who died during an attack in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
While meeting his relatives, Topi expressed his highest esteem for the First Group Commander and guaranteed that the state will stand by them in these difficult times. By the end of his visit, Topi also gave a press release.
“I present to the Feti Vogli family the Eagle Golden Medal. We will keep supporting our allies for guaranteeing peace in the world. I wish a quick recovery to the commando that was injured in Afghanistan, Aleksander Peci. The Albanian state has taken all measures for helping the families of the commandos that were attacked”, Topi declared.
Meanwhile, the family was visited by the US ambassador in Tirana, Alexander Arvizu.
Topalli, condolences for the Topi Family
The Albanian Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, expressed her condolences to the family of Captain Feti Vogli, killed this Monday in Afghanistan.
The Speaker expressed her maximal esteem for the heroism of the Albanian military man, in service of peace.
“Captain Vogli wanted to defend peace for the Afghan children. All Albanians today feel as if they had lost a family member. We express our deepest regret for the loss of an Albanian hero”, Topalli declared.
Vogli, condolences from Prishtina
The Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, send a condolence message to his Albanian homologue, Sali Berisha, for the loss of the Albanian commando, Feti Vogli, in Afghanistan.
“With deep regret we received the news of the tragic event that took place in Kandahar, Afghanistan, where the commander Feti Vogli fell on duty. On behalf of the Kosovo government and its people, and my personal name, I express the most sincere condolences”, Thaci declared in his message.
The Prime Minister also gave his best wishes for a fast recovery of Commander Aleksander Peci.
Thaci declared that despite this event, Albania will continue giving its contribution to the NATO peace-keeping mission in Afghanistan.
The Kosovo Foreign Minister sent a telegram to his Albanian homologue, Edmond Haxhinasto, expressing his condolences for the deep loss.
“The Albanians, wherever they are, share the loss of the family of the soldier who fell in his duty, and join the prayers of the others for the recovery of the other wounded soldier”, the telegram says.
