Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Albanian President, Bamir Topi, confirmed Albania’s support for
Kosovo’s integration in the joint Euro-Atlantic and condemned the
nationalist circles and policies that are damaging the precious
democracy levels through the tense situation created in Northern Kosovo.
The Head of the Albanian State says that it is basic to refuse any idea that tries to place ethnic division lines in the region.
“Let us see the events in Northern Kosovo for keeping in mind the fact that there are still policies and political circles that see the future through nationalist projects, by damaging the holy principles of democracy. It is basic to refuse any idea that tries to place ethnic division lines in the region, and to support any policy that sees the future where all our peoples want it – a full unification with the Euro-Atlantic values and principles”, Topi declared.
The Serbian Minister of defense and high rank representative of the Serbian Army did not participate in this inter-ministerial meeting that is being held in Durres. The meeting of the Defense Ministers of these country mostly focused on the aerial defense. The Supreme Commander of the Allies for Europe, Admiral james Stavridis, valued the progress made since the time when Balkan suffered violent conflicts, and declared that it is important to have a regional cooperation, in order to reduce the expensive costs of the aerial and intelligence equipments.
In this meeting was present the US Ambassador to Tirana, Alexander Arvizu, who was greeted by the Albanian Minister of Defense, Arben Imami.
The meeting continued with the new challenges and expectations for the regional cooperation, in which a Pentagon representative also held a speech.
