After dozens of trees were cut at the Artificial Lake park without any
transparency for the Municipality, during the works for the widening of
the Elbasan street, many citizens, environmentalists and protectors of
the cultural and historical heritage have reacted.
Zamir Dedej and Lavdos Ferruni asked the Municipality to make a transparency of the project and have a consultation with the Tirana citizens before cutting any other trees.
Ferruni and Dedei declared that the Municipality should see the preservation of the trees as a priority, and the authors of this massacre should be held responsible.
Ferruni says that the widening of the existent road with 6 lanes is unnecessary, since there are other roads under construction that are wide enough.
“They should discuss some documents with the civil society and interest groups, before taking a decision”, Dedei declared.
Only several days after the Socialist councilors asked the Municipality, the information table was placed at the construction site, giving information about the project and its duration.
