Decriminalization, CEC needs time for Tahiri and Selami

The Central Election Commission has not given any deadline about the
decision they will make regarding the mandate of Mayor Elvis Rroshi and
MPs Shkelqim Selami and Dashamir Tahiri, who are affected by the
decriminalization law.

The CEC was set in motion by the Prosecution General, which has declared that these persons should not be hired in public posts.

Denar Biba, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, confirmed for Top Chahnel that the CEC will analyze every legal detail with great attention, and the first case will serve a precedent.

The decriminalization law implicates officials who have not been elected. They will have to leave their duty and to be criminally prosecuted for falsifying applications.

Those who have given a false declaration, such as the case of the Director of Mutual Relations at the Albanian Parliament, Genci Mucaj, will be prosecuted for forgery, but will not be removed from power until the Court issues a ruling.

Mucaj says he has consulted legal experts before omitting this declaration from the application, since the media could damage his reputation.
