The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, said that the news published
by media outlets yesterday, quoting him of having said that the catholic
community in Albania was part of criminal contingents, was part of a
slander campaign against him.
“I want to rebuke the barbarian slander who pretend that I have associated religion with criminals. My sentence was that in one of Albania’s regions, due to the special ties with the West, they chose political candidates with criminal records, although the Catholic community has plenty of professors, doctors, artists”, Basha said for the media.
According to him, this was the divisive spirit in a country that is not proud of politics, but of the religious harmony of the people.
