Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Socialist MP abandoned her mandate and the delays for her replacement caused debate on today’s Parliamentary session.
The Socialist Parliament Group leader, Gramoz Ruci, accused the Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, of withholding the mandate of a Socialist MP.
“Give us an answer for the mandate that is being withheld by the opposition MP, and schedule it for the next session, so that the opposition Parliamentary group can discuss and take a stance with its vote”, Ruci declared.
The Parliament Speaker reacted by saying that this is a unique case in the Albanian Parliament, for an MP not to be present in Parliament for two consequent years.
“It is a unique case. In 17 years, I have never seen an MP to be absent for two consequent years, and come voting only once in 6 months. To be honest, Mr. Ruci, I have summoned the Regulation Council for reviewing the request that arrived from the Central Election Commission, but the MPs that were members of the Regulation Council were absent on that meeting, from both majority and opposition, because they were engaged in a much more important process that was related with some very important laws”, Topalli declared.
In the conclusion of the debate, it was decided that the meeting of the Regulatory Council would be held Monday at 12:00.
Rudina Seseri, MP of the Durres District, resigned from her post on December 2011 through a letter sent to Mr. Rama, in which she mentioned that she had personal reasons for this decision.
