Death of 7-year-old patient

The Health Ministry blames Doctor Rasim Lusha for the death of the
7-year-old girl, Ajsela Vladi. Lusha was fired for negligence and
failing to respect the protocol. The justice is expected to give its
verdict.

“Mr.Tavo orders relieves from duty doctor Rasim Lusha for severe violation and failing to respect the protocol for this issue. The Ministry is committed to punish everyone responsible so that such cases will not be repeated. We are waiting for the justice institutions to act”, declared Pellumb Pipero, Director of Policies at the Health Ministry.

After the working groups made the necessary verifications, the Health Ministry denies that the lab service has not worked because it was Christmas. The investigations showed that the doctor asked no lab examinations.

“According to the clinical report, no lab analyses were made to the child until December 26th, although the Durres regional hospital was open and functional 247. The child was treated inadequately and no tests were made”, Pipero underlined.

The working group verified that the girl was kept during the entire night without any tests, and that she was found diabetic only on December 26th, after medical consults.

Right after identifying her grave condition, the girl was sent to the Tirana Military Hospital. Due to the complications in the respiratory system and her brain, the girl has passed away.

The Health ministry asked the Prosecution to investigate and punish the responsible.

Ombudsman Igli Totzani received the consent of the parents to start investigations.
