Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future At least 110.000 cars will have to possess a destruction certificate by
their owners, who haven’t paid the taxes for several years.
The Ministry of Environment has prepared the draft-law for the old cars, which oblige their owners to not abandon them.
“The Traffic Code says that the last owner of the vehicle should follow deregistration procedures, but the process of deregistration cannot be considered finalized if it will not pass the car destruction process. The destruction means that the car cannot function anymore, and for this is needed another structure, for the way how the destruction license will be given”, declared Pellumb Abeshi, Director of Policies at the Ministry of Environment.
Our country has 320 car graveyards, which hold many old cars that have not gone under deregistration processes. The Ministry of Environment demands to end the creation of these remains through this law.
“The Traffic Code and the law provides some elements that are not sufficient and have not been implemented”, Abeshi declared.
Every car owner will be fined by the Environment Inspectorate for avoiding this procedure.
