The Technical Inspectorate declared that they have discovered that the
substances used for children toys in the Albanian market are dangerous.
Many shops and open markets sell plastic toys that imitate famous cartoon figures, or plastic carpets that have a severe chemical odor. According to the Technical Inspectorate, these toys have cancerous substances.
The problems have been identified in a series of toys, such as toy guns that shoot small balls and that should be used for children over 12, while the package says that the toy can be used by three year old children and over.
The inspection has discovered that most of the toys has been made outside the EU standards. Most of the open markets sell toys that have chemical substances or falsified labels, without Albanian translation.
The technical lab lacks of the appliances that can verify the entire list of dangerous substances, while the Albanian customs do not have an inspector for checking the standards of these toys before entering the market.
