Dajti delays Superme Court too

Dritan Dajti, sentenced with life in prison for the murder of four
police officers, seems to have decided to play against all justice
institutions.

10 months ago, the Supreme Court decided to start a trial against the defendant, but all sessions have failed so far. The next session has been postponed after a former Law student deposited a request to remove Judge Edmond Islamaj.

It is not clear why Dritan Dajti wants him removed. If that is the case, the new judge will need even more time to study the case. But most of the sessions at the Supreme Court have failed due to the absence of lawyer Alkend Shpendi, who has presented several times medical reports for justifying his absence.

In August 2009, four police officers were killed during a police operation for catching Dritan Dajti, by then one of the most wanted criminals in Albania.

Dajti refused any lawyer offered by the state, while 49 of them either presented a medical report to be absent, or any document that proved a relation to Dajti.

After 300 sessions in seven years, the Albanian justice was challenged by Dajti through various maneuvers.

If he repeats the same thing with the Supreme Court, the judiciary might enter a stalemate.
