Czech Ambassador Bronislava Tomasova estimated from Korca the new territorial reform, and also commented about the opposition pressure to boycott the elections, stressing that this reform is positive as it precedes decentralization.
“Territorial reform is one of the reforms that were necessary to be taken in Albania. It will facilitate administrative costs and provide better services to citizens. It’s been a very long process of consultation and a monitoring body is engaged in this issue. The opposition has been invited several times to participate in the parliamentary group regarding this reform, but it decided not to take part in the June session. I believe that territorial reform will be successfully implemented and will be followed by decentralization. I hope that the opposition will find a way to participate in the election, because people are interested and determined about it,” said Tomasova.
While she had a social gathering in the Municipality of Korca, the ambassador also mentioned the repeated accusations of the opposition about reaching an agreement between the government and CEZ, which according to her is not delivering a good spirit in the bilateral relations.
“I believe that in connection with this agreement there were statements from many parties involved and the relevant organizations, which are involved in the energy sector in Albania. They know very well the challenges of this sector, its development and seek to develop it. On the bilateral side we can say that this has a negative impact on the cooperation and it is not in favor of the situation. We believe that if both governments want to have cooperating relationship, then you must have a friendly spirit and close to each other. The Czech Republic is a member of the EU and Albania aspires to be. That’s why I think that some of the fundamental issues that the EU aims are the spirit of cooperation between governments. I believe that a spirit of cooperation for the process that has begun will be achieved and hope to establish good bilateral relations,” said the diplomat.
The ambassador Tomasova stopped in Korca to open the beer festival and to be part of it.
