The Minister of Culture made an open invitation to media outlets and not only to increase cooperation about a concern she shared with book lovers, not only as Minister of Culture, but also as a literature professional.
“We have lost two generations of readers, but we’re right on time to educate the younger ones yet to come. We spend a lot of virtual time on social networks. If we pay more attention to book reading, we’ll do a great favor to ourselves and to our children”, Kumbaro said.
An initiative starts this year, called “Tirana Reads”. Its purpose is to take books to every corner of the city, and turn reading into a tradition, so that the many cafes have more young readers in them.
Book lovers will receive gift coupons for online books during the International Literature Festival.
