Albanian Ministry of Health appealed today (18/03/2021) to all citizens not to reduce vigilance and continue to apply the rules for the prevention of COVID19, putting on a protective mask, avoiding crowds, maintaining physical distancing; and taking care of personal hygiene.
Authorities said the anti-COVID vaccination process is ongoing in centralized vaccination centers as well as in schools for teachers.
In the last 24 hours, 2994 tests were performed, out of which 590 citizens tested positive.
Of these, 182 cases were in Tirana, 38 in Vlora, 30 cases in Fier, 29 cases in Shkodra, 24 cases in Elbasan, Pogradec, 22 cases in Durrës, 19 cases in Korça and fewer in other districts.
In the last 24 hours, 710 citizens have recovered, while 406 patients are being treated in hospitals, 31 of them in intensive care.
Despite the efforts of the medical staff, 14 citizens lost the battle with COVID19: 6 citizens from Tirana, 1 citizen from Durrës, 1 citizen from Fieri, 1 citizen from Kuçova, 1 citizen from Berat, 1 citizen from Kruja, 1 citizen from Saranda, 1 citizen from Shkodra, 1 citizen from Elbasan, all aged 57- 84 years.
The Ministry of Health expresses its condolences to the families of the deceased, and addresses the citizens not to neglect any signs of illness but to contact the family doctor for any doubt.
