Albanian health authorities announced today (Wednesday, September 1st) that out of 5724 tests, 982 citizens tested positive for COVID-19.
Of the identified cases of infection 275 were in Tirana, 102 cases in Shkodra, 73 cases in Durrës, 52 cases in Fier, 51 cases in Vlora, and fewer cases scattered in other districts of the country.
100 patients are being treated at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 15 of whom are in a more serious condition. Despite the efforts of doctors, in the last 24 hours, three citizens have lost the battle with COVID-19: a 64-year-old woman from Elbasan, a 70-year-old woman from Fier and a 75-year-old man from Berat.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and appeals to the citizens not to neglect any signs of the disease but to contact the family doctor or the emergency number 112.
