COVID-19 / Ministry of Health: 89 recovered, 167 new cases and 2 losses of life

The Ministry of Health said that in the last 24 hours (Friday, 09.10.2020) in Albania 932 tests have been performed, out of which 167 citizens affected by the SARS-COV2 virus tested positive.

89 citizens have been healed, bringing to 9304 the number of recovered in the country since the beginning of the epidemic.

The positive cases confirmed in the last 24 hours have been identified in the following municipalities: 90 in Tirana which continues to be the hotbed of the infections, 16 cases in Durrës, 11 cases in Korça, 9 cases in Berat, 7 cases in Fier, 6 cases in Lushnje, 3 cases each in Librazhd, Pogradec, Kuçovë, 2 cases each in Krujë, Elbasan, Lezha, Saranda, Tepelena, Skrapar, 1 case in Kukës, Vlora, Kamëz, Gjirokastër, Memaliaj, Shijak, Vora.

Currently, 239 patients are being treated at the Infectious Diseases Hospital and “Shefqet Ndroqi”, 17 of which in intensive therapy.

In the last 24 hours, despite the efforts of doctors, have unfortunately lost the battle with COVID19, a 74-year-old woman from Korça and a 78-year-old woman from Tirana.

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection calls on citizens not to reduce their vigilance for the implementation of anti-COVID measures. In educational institutions, businesses, public transport, everywhere indoors where distance is not maintained, it is necessary to place masks in a way as to cover the nose and mouth.

It is one of the most effective measures to limit the spread of infections, just as it is important to respect the rules of social distance and hygiene.
