The number of Covid-19 fatalities has already risen to 5 as a 49-year-old citizen has died in the infectious hospital. So far 10 patients have recovered after confirmatory tests.
The Institute of Public Health informed about the latest situation of COVID-19 in Albania stating that in the last 24 hours 19 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed and 74 tests have been carried out.
“So far 930 suspected cases were tested of which 19 new cases are confirmed positive with COVID-19, 123 is the total number of affected.
“In the last 24 hours, a 13-day hospitalized patient from Tirana, has died. Despite the efforts of the Infectious Disease medical team, the 49-year-old failed to survive. The deceased was also suffering from diabetes mellitus and was in intensive care for 10 days. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection expresses its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
“The good news is that 10 citizens have recovered (hospitalized and self-quarantined) up to this point after two tests. But they will have to stay in self-quarantine for 14 days.
“The map of those affected by COVID-19 is now extended to Lezha, Has and Berat as well as Tirana, Korça, Fier. Epidemiologists are working intensively on tracing contacts of positive cases and interruption of the infection transmission”, the authorities stated.
