Trials undo fines issued by the Competition Authority. In many other cases there are long procedural delays.

During the annual report in front of the Commission of Economy, Chairwoman Lindita Lati asked judges to get training on competition laws.

“Delays cause problems and diminish the competences of the Competition Authority. The EU progress report underlines that there are long trial delays and that more efforts should be done to increase the training quality for judges”, said Lindita Lati, Chairwoman of the Competition Authority.

The Authority has investigated some markets for 2015, and has issued 51 decisions. They have also reiterated the request that before the government gives concessions, they should implement their obligation to ask for the opinion of the Competition Authority.
