Court of Appeal decision on Gerdec

The Court of Appeal left in effect the verdict issued by the Court of
First Instance for the 29 defendants of the Gerdec trial, with some
amends.
The Court reduced the sentence for five defendants. Ylli Pinari will now serve 10 years in prison, Mihal Delijorgji 7.5, Dritan Minxolli 12, Sokol Ngjeci 7.5 and the former Chief of Staff for the Albanian Army 5 years in prison. The first verdict was left unchanged for the other defendants.
The Court had a higher presence of police officers today, while not all defendants appeared in the courtroom.
The decision was announced by Alaudin Malaj, Gent Shala and Shkelqim Miri. Present in this session were the victims’ relatives who considered the verdict as shameful.
Different from the First Instance Court, the Court of Appeal ended the case within a few months. The Prosecution asked the Court to find the 28 defendants guilty, including the Albademil Company. They have dropped their charges only for Lavdi Shatro.
