The Ministry of Justice reacted one day after the High Council of the Judiciary rejected their request to fire three Judges.
Minister Gjonaj said the decision of the HCJ was shameful. They accused the institution of siding with personal interests of judges rather than with the public. The Minister reminded once again why they made the request for these judges:
“Durres Judge, Petraq Curri, should be fired because he allowed the escape of a person wanted by Italy”, the Minister said, continuing:
“Fier Judge, Ergys Selmani, caused the murder of a woman by her violent husband, by failing to give a protection order in time”, the Minister said. And she continued with the last one:
“The Vlora Judge, Ken Dhima, has 212 delayed verdicts, damaging this way the interests of citizens involved in those trials”, Gjonaj declared.
For the Minister, this Monday was one of the darkest day for the Albanian Justice.
