Albania has increased the corruption perception level. According to the
latest data of Transparency International, our country is three spots
lower than 2012, ranking 116th, to the same level with Nepal and
Vietnam, even behind Nigeria, Ethiopia and Indonesia.
“Transparency International appeals to Albania that corruption is appearing with a new face, which has found a favoring political support, appearing with characteristics as money laundering, financing of parties’ electoral campaigns through illegal companies, corruption of the state through corruption of the procurement systems and privatization, state access in narcotic substances, human traffic, economic monopolies and strategic economic sectors, impunity and immunity created by high-rank officials those in the justice system, the failure to implement the law and there is a lack of punishing culture”, declared Inesa Hila, coordinator of the program.
Albania has the most negative perception in Europe and the region. The two Albanian states have the poorest corruption, but Kosovo has progressed and this year is five spots higher than Albania.
The Balkan states who aspire integration and European Union enlargement have made clear progress in the fight against corruption, but Albania has made regress. The most corrupted are the judiciary and the police.
