Corruption and property rights

The EU ambassador, Ettore Sequi, visited a high profile business forum
organized by the British Embassy in Tirana, where he discussed two
issues that according to him hamper the business and Albania’s economic
growth.

“The progress-report has two parts that are not pure economy, but that inevitably affect the economic activity. These are the property rights and the law implementation. While discussing the economic figures, I would invite the government representatives and businessmen to focus on these two matters”, Sequi declared.

“You will be rich in Albania, if the property right will be guaranteed, if the agreements in Tirana will be implemented. You will prosper if you will not be hampered by slow procedures and discouraging trials, and if corruption and dishonest competition will be fought”, the ambassador declared.

The British Ambassador in Tirana, as organizer of the forum, declared that these issues and the pro-business economic reforms are one of the key conditions for Albania’s integration.

“As a champion for the EU enlargement, Great Britain is clear in its stance that Albania belongs to the European Union. We want to see Albania progress, and we want to see it this year. We are working hard with the Albanian and international partners, in order to support the necessary reforms that will achieve this goal. The pro-business economic reforms are a key part”, Fiona McwIlham declared.

The Albanian-British forum for reforms in business and economy was followed by politicians, ambassadors and high rank experts. The goal was to increase the economic cooperation between Albania and Britain, and to identify the necessary reforms that will ease the country’s integration process.
