The Albanian Democratic Party reacted this Tuesday for the lack of the
Albanian flag on the roads of Skopje, the day when Prime Minister Edi
Rama arrived in Macedonia for his first official visit.
“The law provides that the city gets decorated with the flags of the personality that will visit the capital. Everyone remembers how the city was decorated when the Serbian Prime Minister arrived”, declared Parliament Member Bekim Fazliu.
“We have witnessed that on the day of the Albanian Prime Minister in Macedonia there were no Albanian flags in Skopje. BDI is an ally of the government coalition and as such should tell the Albanian people why there is no Albanian flag in Skopje today. For the PDSH and the Albanian people, this is an unacceptable scandal”, the opposition Parliament Member declared.
But the government’s spokesperson, Muhamet Hoxha, reacted by saying that the national flag which honors the Albanian Prime Minister will be on the roads this Wednesday, when Rama will be welcomed by the Head of State.
“It’s strange for us that the Albanian opposition, the PDSH, specifically, is not informed about the Prime Minister’s visit in our country. Mr.Rama will come tomorrow for the official visit, and he will meet the President and the leaders of Albanian parties. Rama will be welcomed with every procedure that is foreseen by the diplomatic protocol, as every visit of other ministers in our country”, Hoxha declared.
The Macedonian Foreign Ministry announced Rama’s visit only yesterday, in order to avoid any incident as retaliation for the egg attack made against Prime Minister Gruevski during his recent visit in Tirana.
