President Ilir in a press conference asked for reflection on the constitutional changes in the country, saying that “It’s since March 2nd that I hear the call of the people ‘Dissolve the Assembly!'”
The head of state stressed that he is not against the abolition of pre-election coalitions, but this decision, Meta said, belongs to the people, through a referendum.
“Constitutional changes can be made only with a total agreement, as it was done when the President was with a total agreement of 140 votes.
“Venice has also made it clear that changes are needed on issues related to the impact of the justice reform package, and on any other important issue this should be done in the most consensual way, as the Venice report says. That platform was ignored because you know the developments with theater and other variety shows, but the president works in circumstances not created by the president.
“People were there on March 2, I do not forget their shouts to ‘Dissolve parliament!’ So it is time for them to mind their call. If they want to decide for no coalitions it’ll be done by referendum, that is essential for democracy.
“Sovereignty belongs to the people, you have it in point 6 of the constitution,” said Meta, among other things.
