Constitutional amends opposed

Constitutionalists and civil society members appealed for the need of a mature civil discussion. According to them, they should not tolerate the rush on behalf of the European Integration. They also criticized the Ambassadors who establish deadlines for the constitutional fate of Albania.

“The Constitution has turned into trash, with which anyone can do what he wants, and this happens in a time when there are critics from the local public opinion and the internationals for making mature Constitutional amends, without rushing anything. Critics that have been accepted by intellectuals, scholars and people from the interested parties”, Moisiu declared.

“We are facing two options. We have the lifting of the immunity, which means zeroing it, and the immunity limitation. But these are different cases and must be analyzed on their own. We want to know what consequences will there be from the zero immunity and what consequences has the limited immunity. Before changing even a comma on the Constitution, we must analyze the consequences of this change, because the Constitution is a system that if you move even a small thing, the consequences are big and with a domino effect”, declared Aurela Anastasi, a constitutionalist.

“I greet the fact that these changes should be made constitutionally,a nd also the fact that the majority gave up from its effort to make a Parliament decision or an organic law. It is true that the Commission of Venice suggested in 2006 that the immunity could be lifted or limited even with a mutual and organic agreement, but the Commission confirmed that this was an obliged movement”, declared the constitutionalist Luan Omari.

“I see with great concern that there are arguments why this shold be done faster. The Prime Minister gives some vulgar arguments, a real demagogy, such as equalizing the politicians with the citizens. Why don’t they see the wage problem? Why doesn’t the Prime Minister equalize his wage with that of the citizens? Today is very necessary to limit the immunities in some aspects; due to the galloping corruption; but the government propaganda is making something unprecedented. It seems like the immunities are being removed for fighting the opposition’s corruption. The main generator of corruption is governing, especially when the government is reaching 8 years with the same people”, Andrea Stefani declared.
