Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
Concrete keeps occupying the cities and cultural heritage objects, by
not stopping even in front of the Skenderbe Castle Gates in Kruje, where
the ottoman forces were stopped by the Albanians.
A big concrete construction is being built with the permission of the Municipality. If new apartment buildings that blocked the view of the castle weren’t enough, the construction at the castle’s gates might even endanger the ancient building. This castle belongs to the Ministry of Culture, but the permission was given by the Municipality.
No employee of the Kruje Museum accepted to talk about the damages that are made to this historical heritage. Builders have placed a sign that says that the Municipaluty has given the permission for the construction of an apartment building.
This building damages not only the image of the castle itself, but also the ancient Bazaar of Kruje, both of which are part of our golden fund of cultural and historical heritage.
