The Albanian law grants the right of financial compensation to persons who lose their relatives with public transport vehicles.
The Financial Observation Authority (FOA) declared for Top Channel that the law foresees compensation even for those persons who remain injured during the accidents so that they can pay the treatments or if they lose the ability to work, temporary or permanently.
According to the FOA, only the vehicle driver will be excluded from the compensation, but if he has a volunteer insurance police, he can profit compensation in case of accidents.
With the Himara tragedy, where 13 people died and 24 others were injured, FOA says that the bus was insured to the “Sigma Vienna Insurance Group”.
According to the FOA, this insurance covers the compensation for the victims and the injured with a total value of 150 million ALL. This is the minimal compensation limit, but the real value comes after the evaluation that special FOA experts conclude. The compensation sum is calculated according to a special formula that is predicted by law. According tot he FOA, the insurance company has all the financial capacities to handle the compensation.
