The Inter-Ministerial Committee of Civil Emergencies gathered for the
first time to discuss and announce the action plans for facing the
difficult situation caused by the cold weather in some areas of the
country.

The Committee is led by the Interior Minister, Bujar Nishani, and has the cooperation of the Health, Education, Agriculture, Defense Ministries and that of the General Directory of Civil Emergencies, the Chief of the Armed Forces Headquarters, the General Directory of the State Police, the Directory of Roads, etc.

Minister Bujar Nishani briefed the colleagues with the duties and objectives for each department and institution. A priority remains the opening of the roads and the distribution of the medical aids and food in isolated areas. The Interior Minister declared that they will use the helicopters for this and that the army will intervene with five snow cleaning vehicles to the areas that mostly need them,.

Another problem is the electric power supply. The Interior Minister, as leader of the Inter Ministerial Committee for Civil Emergencies, asked the Transmission System Operator to cooperate with CEZ for maximizing the power supply.

The Health Minister, Petrit Vasili, spoke about the measures taken by this department for the emergency situations throughout the country. He said that they are coming to the aid of many citizens with the help of the local administration, by offering medical help not only in hospitals, but also in other premises, depending on the circumstances.

The Inter Ministerial Committee of Civil Emergencies was established after the order of Prime Minister Berisha for facing the situation created by the bad weather in the country, which has taken the life of at least 2 persons in Dukagjin and Korce.
