Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Commission of Laws approved only with the majority’s votes the
proposition that allows the Parliament to distribute mandates with the
same scheme of 2009.
Today’s meeting at the Commission of Laws, in which were summoned the chair and vice chair of the Central Election Commission, followed with harsh debates between MPs regarding the mandate distribution issue. The Commission voted the proposition made one day ago by Democratic Party MP, Edi Paloka, for allowing the Parliament to distribute mandates in the same way as in 2009.
“The Central Election Commission has exhausted all administrative ways to find a decision. The Parliament cannot allow the electoral process to collapse. The Parliament doesn’t replace CEC, but the only remaining way is to distribute mandates same as in 2009”, Paloka declared.
Socialist Party representative in this Commission, Fatmir Xhafaj, considered this initiative as a dangerous precedent, since the Parliament is taking over CEC.
