The MPs of the Commission of Economy voted against the government’s proposition to remove the excise of energy drinks.

“We are against the government’s proposition for removing excise from energy drinks. We are expecting an answer on Friday regarding the respective codes, so that next year we will not have any argument that will refer to tax evasions”, declared the Chairman of the Commission, Erjon Brace.

The second amendment was the reduction of the honorary tax for mines, not only for chrome, but also for other minerals.

“Copper, zinc, nickel… all metallic minerals that are produced in Albania, should be encouraged to be processed in our territory”, Brace declared.

The rest of the package was voted according to the variant proposed by the government, although there were strong debates.

“These people who deposit money in banks not only receive back a very low interest, but now we should also tax them with 15%. We should follow the principle that who earns more pays more, or we should leave it as it is”, declared Perparim Spahiu from the Socialist Movement for Integration.

“This article was voted. Let’s pass to the other one”, Braçe declared.

The interests that families pay for mortgages will not be recognized as tax deductible. The government backed off from this decision, although they had proposed it themselves.

“The Ministry of Finances has reviewed the law, but it was impossible to include it in this budget”, declared Ervin Mete, Deputy Minister of Finances.

The new fiscal package changes 18 taxes, 15 of which will be reduced. In total, the foscal burden increases with 160 million USD each year.
