Environmentalists and representatives of the civil society met with
representatives of the Muslim Community to review the construction
project of the Namazgja Mosque near the Parliament, together with which
will be built two high-rise buildings that will serve as a commercial
center.
“They deny the presence of other business constructions, and say that this is only about the mosque. We are protecting the last green space that has been built together with the city of Tirana”, declared Sazan Gury, an environmentalists.
As regards to the local and central decision makers, the environmentalists say that the Albania capital doesn’t accept a single cubic meter of construction, and support the idea for the construction of the mosque behind the Culture Palace or at the New Boulevard.
“We do not accept a single meter cob of construction. We appeal the Muslim Community to see as an alternative the construction of this mosque behind the Culture Palace or at the new boulevard”, Guri declared.
Through a petition addressed to the most important institutions of our country, 23 civil society representatives, university professors and students, request that the permit should be canceled and trees should not be cut.
