13 years after the execution of Azem Hajdari and his bodyguard, the
Democratic Party paid homage to his memorial near this party’s
headquarters, by honoring the former student that led the demonstrations
against the communist regime.
Speaking with nostalgia for the days when the democratic future of the country was being decided, Prime Minister Berisha placed Hajdari on the pedestal of freedom, considering him as the legendary contribution of the freedom for the Albanians and the forerunner of Democracy.
“Those who shot the bullets thinking that they could eliminate his cause were terribly wrong. Today, the project of Azem Hajdari, his dream and that of the liberating students is more real than ever. Albania is a NATO member today. The Albanians today move freely all over the Europe. Albania, with its reforms, is walking assured in the road towards new horizons, towards the developed Albania”, Berisha declared.
“I want to offer once again my condolences to the Hajdari family and the Çera family in this anniversary. His ideals will always be praised higher in this country and this society”, the Prime Minister declared.
