Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Ice and snow have covered many areas of Albania, causing many schools to
close. 88 institutions have closed their services only in the Korce
district.
Schools in Erseke and Pogradec have also closed, after the teachers and the students are unable to continue their normal schedule. The roads are covered with snow and the cold easily enters in the classrooms.
The temperature has fallen under zero even in the Albanian capital, where many schools and kindergartens have electrical heat or not at all.
The children say that they are obliged to wear a lot of clothes, and keep their scarves and gloves even inside the classroom, due to the low temperatures.
Even in schools that have a heating system, it has only worked for three or four hours a day, after a Tirana Municipality decision.
