Cold weather and icy roads block traffic

During the morning hours, some national roads had serious problems with Ice, such as Korcë-Kapshticë and Kapshticë-Kozane, which blocked the heavy holiday traffic with Greece.

Small vehicles were also blocked and there were notifications that this situation could take two days. The Greek police notified the blocking of heavy trucks and buses, due to the snow and ice on the roads.

Problems with the ice were recorded in the national roads at the Qafa e Llogarase and Qafa e Muzines in Vlore and Gjirokaster; the national road Përmet-Leskovik is also icy. Qafa e Qarrit, at the Erseke-Korce road cannot be crossed without snow chains. Qafe-Thana and Qafe Kerraba also have ice problems, while the deep areas of Dardhe, Lekas and Moker are completely impassable.

The snow has also blocked the roads Tamare-Vermosh dhe Boge-Theth, with more than one meter of thickness. Kukes and some villages of Tropoje also have the national roads blocked. Similar problems have been recorded in Diber and Bulqizës. Most of the problems have been in Qafë-Buall, Fushë-Bulqizë e Maqëllarë. The Dibër communes of Lurë, Kala e Dodës and Sllove are still blocked. The regional directory of roads is working for keeping the traffic free.
