Clinton: No discussions for border

The borders of Kosovo are clearly set and permanent. This is the US
determination that was expressed in Kosovo about this issue by the US
Secretary, Hillary Clinton, who arrived in Kosovo together with the Head
of the European diplomacy, Catherine Ashton.

Encouraged by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, who reminded the last visit of the US Secretary, 13 years ago, to the Albanians that were transferred to Macedonia, Mrs. Clinton declared for the media that she’s not sure if any other people have achieved so much progress in such a short period like Kosovo.

Speaking on the main topic of her visit, the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, the US Secretary made it clear that the US is against the dialogue for the borders.

“The US is completely determined in its stance for the territorial integrity and the sovereignty of Kosovo for seeing the rule of law in the entire territory of Kosovo. We are against any type of dialogue for changing the territorial integrity or the status. The borders of independent Kosovo are clear and permanently set. I want to express my gratitude to the Prime Minister, who says that is a Prime Minister of everyone in Kosovo, from north to south”, Clinton declared.

She values as daring and wise the decision of Prime Minister Thaci to go to Brussels and meet the Serbian Prime Minister, Ivica Dacic.

The Head of the EU foreign policy and security, Catherine Ashton, mentioned Northern Kosovo by saying that this dialogue aims to let the citizens of the area live their life.

“The dialogue that we have started is not easy, neither for the Prime Minister of Kosovo and nor for the Prime Minister of Serbia. I know that due to the history and the fear, this is not easy even for the people of Kosovo. We appeal that this dialogue is for normalizing life, so that the citizens who live in north can be able to live their life by feeling that they are part of that society. This is achieved by sitting down to open and clear dialogue”, Ashton declared.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, expressed his regret for the consequences of the hurricane that stroke USA today, saying that they pray for the victims. He guaranteed the two diplomat ladies that he is the Prime Minister of all Kosovo citizens, even to those in North, where the presence of structures financed by Serbia is hampering the work of Kosovo’s institutions.

Thaci declared that during this meeting they failed to agree for normalizing the relations with Serbia, and reiterated that Kosovo’s history clock will not turn back.

“Kosovo’s independence and its territorial integrity and the organization of the state are two internationally known facts and that cannot be discussed. But there are many things that are on the interest of both states. The dialogue is the only way for EU integration, is the catalyser for the success of this process”, Thaci declared.

Clinton and Ashton started this Wednesday by meeting the Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga, and other high rank officials. They met the party leaders who gave their support to the normalization of the relations between Kosovo and Serbia. The Self-Determination Movement was not present. Their officials say that they were not informed about this meeting.

Clinton and Ashton arrived in Prishtina this Tuesday, where they were welcomed by President Jahjaga. Before Kosovo they visited Sarajeva and Belgrade.
