The government is planning to make their budget and the Albanian tax
payers around 20 million USD during this year by cleaning the social
welfare scheme from abuses.
The Minister of Social Welfare, Erion Veliaj, declared that they are scrutinizing the social assistance scheme for the disabled people and the custody cases.
“Only changing the scheme by removing abuses and by conditioning and disciplining the economic welfare, by giving it to wives with the condition to let their children go to school, with the condition to give all vaccines to their children, will make us save 10% of a scheme that for the last 23 years has always been with a deficit. If this trend will continue until the end of the year, we will save 20 million USD for the Albanian taxpayers”, Veliaj declared.
In this meeting held in Durres, together with the Socialist Women Forum and female Parliament Members, the Minister discussed the planning of a strategy that would help improving the role of women in the decision making process.
