Marie Ukcanaj, 48, a cleaning woman at the Tirana “Mother Theresa”
Hospital, has sued her employer after an accident that cost her 6 months
of hospital treatments, due to an incident with a needle that infected
her with HVC.

“In April 2007, while I was cleaning at the Pediatric Pavilion, I was infected by a needle with chronic HVC. The incident was caused due to the lack of the necessary equipments for preventing these accidents. After receiving cures for 6 months at hospital, I asked an indemnity from my employer, but they refused it with the argument that they do not have enough funds”, she declared.

Marie Ukcanaj concludes her lawsuit by saying that the refusal of the indemnification is absurd, and she well seek justice in court.
