Clashes for illegal constructions

The Vlore Municipality and the local police have started a battle in
distance as regards the illegal constructions. The Vlore Police
announced that nine Municipality officials have been sued for power
abuse.

The prosecution was announced also by Prosecutor General Llalla, during a visit in Vlore.

“The responsibles are not only those who build illegally, but it falls even more on the local officials who have allowed the construction of these illegal objects”, Llalla declared two days ago.

Mayor Gjika also reacted after this announcement, saying that the Vlore Municipality has reported more than 185 cases of illegal construction to the police.

“We sent our cases to court, and five of them have been rejected by the Prosecution. The Prosecution has 179 reports in their drawers. All these proceedings are covered by the legal procedures and there is even a criminal report. Today, the State Police is doing nothing more than doubling the Municipality’s work. The first priority is the cooperation of the State Police, and then we need a more concrete and organized cooperation, so that we don’t have to file the same reports twice, like many that have been done just for show or for the media”, Gjika declared.

The Vlore coastline has been damaged by the illegal constructions and this is also taking place in the city. The State Police has announced several times that they have taken actions for bringing those who are responsible to justice.
