
The election campaign clashes Interior Ministry with State Police. The Chief of one of most important police structures in the State Police, the Special Forces, sued the currently first person in charge of the Interior Ministry.
Chief of Special Forces and of Quick Intervention Forces’ Shemsi Prençi, sued the vice Interior Minister, Avenir Peka.
According to Prençi, Peka has issued an illegal order to engage the Special Forces in the Kamza incident this Sunday, while this action is forbidden by law.
I denounce” today the gravest incident during elections. For an incident that has happened in Bathore, vice Interior Minister, Avenir Peka, ordered me to infringe the law and send the Special Forces at that area. I refused and he offended and threatened me. I appeal the Prime Minister to not allow that people like Avenir Peka endanger that standards that we are trying to achieve in Albania”, Prençi declared.
Prençi said that he receives orders only from the General Director of State Police and he will execute no illegal orders.
“I will not execute the illegal order of vice Minister Peka. His threats were different, not only regarding my job, because this is something I’m getting used to. But there were other offences so banal that I cannot quote in front of the cameras”, Prençi confirmed.
Kamzë and Kashar incidents, three under custody
The Spokesperson for the Tirana Police announced the arrest of three people involved in the clashes between Socialist and Democratic Party supporters, while police is looking for several others.
“For the incident that took place yesterday at 23:00, at Kashar, the Tirana Police has taken under custody Luan Sulaj, 32 years old and Viktor Sulaj, 27, both Kashar residents. For the Bathore incident the police have taken under custody Krenar Baja, 21 years old, a resident of Bathore, Tirana. He was arrested at 00:00 after a confrontation between the supporters of two political parties. This citizen is suspected of damaging two vehicles belonging to Elvis Vladim, 20 years old, and Ardian Ali, 26 old, both Tapiza residents”, declared the Police Spokesperson, Alma Katragjini.
Urgent Meeting of the State Police Directors
While the Police spokesperson was releasing the press conference, an urgent meeting was being held in the Tirana Police offices, in the presence of the Chiefs of all Tirana Police Districts, State Police directors and representatives of the ICITAP Mission.
No comment was released on the meeting’s objective. After the first meeting was concluded, another one took place between the State Police Chiefs in their headquarters.
