Service quality in tourist areas is still one of the main problems that tourism in Albania is facing today.
To improve the level of this service, in order to attract more tourists, the Ministry of Urban Development and Tourism will start licensing and certificating hotels and other operators of this sector.
“By focusing more on the natural views, the natural heritage, the Albanian hospitality and cuisine, tourists have also had remarks about the quality of service. We have prepared the first draft with some legal amends, which is being discussed with the interest groups. We want to increase competitiveness in tourism and also its standards, by using classification, licensing and certification of the businesses that operate in this sector”, declared the Minister of Urban Development and Tourism, Eglantina Gjermeni.
The law for tourism will be presented in Parliament within June. In parallel with the improving of the tourist service, this Ministry aims to resolve the lack of certified tourist guides in our country. Gjermeni launched a pilot project for a training course for the first group of tourist guides that will be realized in cooperation with the Center for Economic Education and Business.
