Sources from the structure that supported the Census in the Gjirokaster
District say that the participation in this process is satisfactory.

More than 90% of the population has participated, while the specialty of this district is related with the great number of residences registered as abandoned. Interviewers say that this phenomenon was typical in Greek minority villages and the remote communes of the Gjirokaster, Tepelene and Permet districts, but also in towns.

Another important Census data for the Gjirokaster district is the great number of apartments and houses that have been bought by emigrants in towns, and that are currently uninhabited. This data is accompanied by another important one, that of the total abandonment of residences in deep rural areas.

The interviewers in the district say that the refusal level was very low, mainly in the Upper Dropull comune, where the residents supported the OMONIA declaration, but in general, the minorities were ready to be registered.

On the other hand, the interviewers say that in Permet and Tepelena, there have been families who have refused to respond to the Census, especially regarding ethnicity and religion.
