Lefteri Lleshi or Marsida Xhaferrllari will be the next Central Election
Commission (CEC) Chairwoman. The 2013 elections that were foreseen as a
hard race by the OSCE annual report, this time will be managed by a
woman.
The opposition disqualified two of four candidates that the majority chose yesterday, Haki Mustafa and Endrit Reka, saying that they did not fulfill the legal criteria. The Socialists elected these names because of the delay in the constitution of CEC, according to the Socialist MP, Pandeli Majko.
“We have elected two candidates, Mrs. Lefteri Lleshi and Mrs. Marsida Xhaferllari. A woman might be able to resolve what the male Chairmen of CEC have failed to”, Majko declared.
Majko said that the SP structure will decide for one of them, although the CEC chairman is elected with simple majority and the opposition’s vote is not defining. The names of Marsida Xhaferllari and Lefteri Lleshi will be voted in the next Parliamentary session, since the report for these two candidates was approved by the Commission of Laws earlier the day.
